Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Maryland.
Welcome! I am a Ph.D. Candidate and Researcher at the University of Maryland (UMD).
I study comparative political behavior and public policy with a focus on Latin America. My research examines crime, illicit drugs, and climate disasters, and I use and develop methods to draw causal inferences from experimental and observational data as well as machine learning approaches.
My work has been published in Nature:HSSC, Social Science Quarterly, Policing & Society, Latin American Politics and Society, among other journals.
I have served as a research faculty (pre-doctoral fellow) at Georgetown University, as a research consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank, and as a policymaker at Colombia’s National Planning Department. I was born and raised in Colombia, where I earned a Master’s in Public Policy and a B.S. in Government and Public Affairs from Universidad de los Andes.
